There are two ways to change your router password: the Wi-Fi password (for connecting to the internet) and the administrator password (for accessing the admin panel). Below are the general steps (works on both mobile phones and computers).
I. Preparation
Device Connection to Router: Connect your phone to your home WiFi / Connect your computer to the router’s LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
Find 3 pieces of information (see the sticker on the bottom of the router):
Management Address: e.g., 192.168.1.1 / 192.168.0.1 /
Default Administrator Account / Password (usually: admin/admin)
II. General Steps (Browser Modification)
- Login to the Backend
Open your browser and enter the management address → Press Enter
Enter the administrator account and password → Login
Change WiFi Password (Common)
Locate: Wireless Settings / WiFi Settings / My WiFi
Dual-band Router (2.4G + 5G): Change the password separately, it is recommended to use the same password.
Password Items: PSK Password / Wireless Password / Security Key
Encryption Method: Select WPA2-PSK / WPA3 (Do not use WEP)
Click Save → The router will restart (about 1 minute)
Change Administrator Password (Backend Login Password)
Locate: System Tools / Device Management / Advanced Settings → Change Administrator Password
Enter original password → Set new password → Save
III. What if I forget the administrator password?
Power on the router and press and hold the Reset button for 5–10 seconds (all indicator lights will flash).
Restore factory settings: Log in again using the default username and password on the bottom. All internet settings will be cleared.
IV. After modification
Mobile phone/computer: Forgot this WiFi → Search again → Enter new password to connect
Smart devices (TV, camera): Reconnect to WiFi
